They are the ONLY member of their GENUS and you won’t find them on ANY points list! I am one of only 3 people who have bred them from this batch w/ I belive Jeff Rapps and Ryan Smith being the only other 2, but you never know. 2nd U.S. import will be in DEC 2012 from Mark Chen at DISCUS ORIGINS. Male died shortly after. So off the offspring actually got up to an inch, but most were 0.75. I was hoping to get a male to spawn again, but thanks to whoever didn’t claim that Apistgramma cacatuiodes at Pete’s house. They all were killed by that rogue, actually that little bent cacatuoides killed more fish in our smaller setups than I would like to admit too. |

James Decker | 2015 | ExCichlasoma atromaculatum | 15 | Fish spawned around 12/18, noticed free swimmers around the 21st of December, fish are now over 90 days old just about an inch. These fish are very rare, I don’t know of anyone in U.S. thats has breed them. Willem Heins said he has tried for years and Don Conkel said it was next to impossible and fish would have to be 18 inch plus, but guess who proved them wrong. They are wild caught Rio Arato from Marc at Discus Origins. Tank 125 ph 6 temp 82 zero waste fry grown out in 10 gal bucket with sponge filter and small heater. |

They have been left with the parents, and appear to be unmolested by them outside of minor chasing when feeding. The fry are active at all levels of the tank, although for the first 24 hours after birth they congregate at the surface and are very skittish. After heavy feeding, it appears they excrete within 4-6 hours. I lost count of how many babies are in there; I broke down the tank a few weeks ago to move it and there were at least 50. I think I’ll need to start separating them to see improved growth rates. A few of the larger babies have started to color up and are sexable as males. |

Pete LoGiudice | 2012 | Amphilophus citrinellum | Midas Cichlid | 15 | 1M1F (female deceased as of 1/21/2012) November 2010 Jack Dunn Domestic 01/5/2012 Spawn of around 350-500 eggs (their first for this year and their last) Temperature: 79 Tank size: 55 gallon Filtration: HOB Heater: 300 watt Substrate: natural gravel Decor: clay pot I noticed the male red devil terrorizing the female a few days after I moved them out of the 55 and into a 29 so I could grow out the fry in the 55. I put a make shift eggcrate divider in, but evidently didn’t secure it well enough. He beat the life out of her before I saw that he had gotten it loose. She died this evening. (1/21/2012) Raising unknown number of fry in the 55. Have two spawns of fry from last year growing out in 135. Some have changed from juvenile stripes to midas gold coloration. Interesting. The one larger juvenile that I pulled has developed some black splotches on nose and tail. None of Jack’s strain show any black, just midas golden color. Giving male to Pooley tonight, so this project is done. Only thing left to do is find homes for the several hundred juveniles I have growing in 135. |
Pete LoGiudice | 2012 | Geophagus brasiliensis | Pearl Cichlid | 10 | 1M1F (male was killed by another fish) 2009 Jack Dunn Domestic Summer 2011 Spawn of around 75-100 eggs Summer 2011 Spawn of around 50-75 eggs Temperature: 78 Tank size: 20 gallon Filtration: HOB Heater: 50 watt Substrate: natural gravel Decor: rocks and plastic plants Raising about 15 or so fry left over from the two Summer spawns. I had moved the pair into a 75 with some other fish including a large Distichodus to let the fry grow up some. Lost most of the fry to a heater failure and cold temps. Had some growing in a 55 gallon drum for a while as well, but they didn’t do too well. I went to move the pair back to the 20 to start them spawning again and found that the Distichodus had killed the male. Trying to find another male. Got a new male from NOLAGT on 2/5/2012. Finally put him in the 210 with the female to get used to each other. She’s only about 1/6th his size and follows him around seemingly saying, "Hey Big Fella!" I put rock work in the tank with lots of small places for her to get out of his reach. |

Pete LoGiudice | 2015 | Cyrtocara moorii | 15 | Bought colony of 8 adults from Ken a couple years ago. Turned out to be dominant male, subdominant male, and 6 females. Lost one female shortly after. 75 gallon tank 300 watt heater natural gravel no decor Stripped eggs from holding females and tumbled in my DIY tumbler At one point had 96 fry growing out. Subsequently killed the colony after moving to 125 and that tank springing a leak. Moved colony to 55 gallon drum and poof gone in a day. Currently 24 3.5″ juveniles are living at Jack Dunn’s in a 225 growing bigger by the day. |

Trampus Lilly | 2014 | Geophagus brachybranchus | 20 | 1 Male 3-3.5″ 1 Female 3″ Received from Robert Graham who got from CJ Tank 40 breeder Black Diamond blasting sand, smooth river rock stacked, curved piece of driftwood forming a cave Marineland Penguin 350 with filter over intake Temp 77 PH 7.6 Water changed twice a week before spawn and then no water change for 10 days after free swimming Parents will suck up fry into there mouth when you walk up to tank so hard to tell how many. When not up at glass it looks like a cloud swimming around parents. Also IMO the colors these fish get while spawning and after while tending to fry with vertical stripping and the dark line on the neck make them one of the more attractive fish Forgot to put it in this is the second spawn the first batch i have maybe 20 around .75 to 1″ |

Trampus Lilly | 2014 | Pekoltia compta | L-134 Pleco | 20 | Around January of 2014 maybe a little before got 1 male 1 female from seller on aquabid around 3″. Kept them in a 46 gallon tank with driftwood and several different caves. PH was around 7 and temp about 76. Had 1 spawn with tons of eggs after fungus and parents eating eggs ended up with 3 survivors. They are 1″+ now and have had no signs of spawning since first batch ran 4weeks of no full water changes and just sucking out waste everyday then did a 80% water change and refilled with cooler water |
Trampus Lilly | 2014 | Thorichthys ellioti | 15 | 1 male 2.5 – 3″ 4 female all around 2.5″ Ordered from wet spot in middle June. Currently have 24 fry at 1/4 to 1/3 inch and about 100 free swimming fry about 2 to 3 weeks old. Tank- 40 breeder Pool filter sand couple of smooth river rock I small piece of drift wood. Marineland penguin 350 with large spounge filter(fry eat food waste off of it) Temp 76 PH 7.7 Water change twice a week 40-50% First week of free swimming no water change Both parents do great job of tending to fry but will have nothing to do with each other for 2 – 3 weeks after Have spawned several times since, currently have them ranging from .5″ up to 2″. On last spawn I lost my breeding male as he refused to come out from guarding eggs to eat. After about 2 days off him not coming out to eat I removed the driftwood the eggs were on and he still stayed and guarded the entrance to cave. At this point im holding off on selling any more until i replace my male from the fry i have. |
