Kathy England

Kathy England is an Arkansas transplant to Texas (Hogs Rule – Longhorns drool!), having been born and raised in rural Columbia County, Arkansas.  She received her BBA degree from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas (Go Riders!), majoring in office administration.  Kathy moved to Texarkana, Arkansas, in 1986, to continue working in the legal field, but plans to retire at the end of 2017.

Kathy is a member of the Bluebonnet Garden Club, located in the Liberty-Eylau area of Texarkana, and a vendor at the Texarkana, Texas Farmers Market, selling jams, jellies, fruit butters, arts and crafts, plants and anything else she can think of to (legally) make money.  When she is not busy with the garden club or the market, Kathy can be found piddling around in the house and yard, and playing with the pond plants.

In 1995, Kathy married Marvin England, a long-time fishkeeper, and they bought a house in rural Bowie County, outside Texarkana, Texas.  Kathy never had anything to do with fish until she met Marvin, but that quickly changed.  While he was in Bosnia for 6 months, Kathy was in charge of the fish room?

Kathy and Marvin have kept (voluntarily or involuntarily) and spawned/bred many different kinds of varmints, including shrimp, crayfish, tree frogs, ribbon snakes, cichlids, livebearers, plecos, synodontis and rainbows.  Currently there are about 30 tanks in the fish house, plus several 300 gallon vats outside that contain pond plants and two 50-gallon vats that contain a carnivorous pitcher plant collection.  They also have three cats and two dogs, so if you come to their house, you’d better not mind pet hair!

Every day is a new adventure at the England house!!
